How it works

Your browser makes a private shuffle of all 17,500 facts the first time you visit and remembers how far through it you are. Each click shows the next fact in your shuffle, so a fact you have seen is never shown again, even if you close the tab and come back next month.

That memory lives only in your browser. A different browser or device starts its own shuffle, and clearing your site data restarts yours.

Where the facts come from

Every fact is adapted from the "Did you know…" section of Wikipedia's main page, where volunteer editors write a short hook for a new or expanded article and other editors check it against a cited source. We keep hooks that stand on their own, then drop sensitive topics, breaking news and anything that reads as out of date. See sources and corrections.
